BRADENTON (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a portion of his tax relief proposal for the upcoming legislative session which would provide $1.1 billion in tax relief for Florida families through multiple tax holidays, if passed by the legislature.

DeSantis says the Family-Focused Tax Relief proposal includes the following exemptions:

The proposal also includes a continuation of tax holidays for the 2023-2024 fiscal year:

2-week Disaster Preparedness Tax Holiday

1-week Tools and Home Improvement Tax Holiday

1-week Freedom Week Tax Holiday

1-year Energy Star Appliance Tax Holiday

“This is 1.1 billion dollars – just what I announced here – and then you look at the toll relief which is between 400 and 500 million dollars – and we’re not done yet – we’re actually going to do more proposals – so stay tuned for that,” DeSantis said.

“We respect you as taxpayers and we’re going to work to lessen the burden on you and we’re going to make sure we run our ship in a really tight fashion.”

DeSantis says he is concerned about the economic turmoil that is yet to come from Washington.

“We’re going to have billions of billions of dollars that we can set aside for additional if we have economic turmoil because of the Biden policies,” he said.

“We feel like we’re positioned really good and so we can do this tax relief – really without breaking a sweat at this point – so we’re going to do it and we’re going to deliver for the people of this state more than we ever have before,” he said.

DeSantis recently commented on the latest inflation report, blasting the Biden Administration for mass printing of money and mass spending.

He said, although inflation numbers went down, there was still an increase overall.

“[When] you go in and you print trillions of dollars… Of course you’re gonna get inflation! […] What is their response, and what are they trying to do to quote ‘reduce inflation?’ They pass a bill that they’re calling the Inflation Reduction Act which is going to INCREASE inflation!” DeSantis said.
