TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign is contrasting the governor’s 4th of July appearance in New Hampshire with both former President Donald Trump’s and President Joe Biden’s campaigns.

The governor and Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis got “SOAKED” during their appearance in New Hampshire.

“The rain may have been heavy, but the enthusiasm was high,” DeSantis’ campaign said in an email.

“We are blessed to have a country founded on principles of freedom, and it is our duty to preserve and defend the sacred fire of liberty as these principles are constantly under attack,” DeSantis said on July 4. “We do not run from this responsibility; we welcome it. We will hold the line, keep the faith, and never, ever back down.”

His campaign threw shade on Trump over a New York Times headline calling the former president “the Republican who didn’t campaign on Independence Day.”

Trump held a 4th of July celebration a couple days prior in Pickens, South Carolina.

On Biden, DeSantis’ campaign said the current president wants the GOP nominee – whoever that may be – to allow Biden to “stay in his basement.”

“[That’s] exactly what Biden wants,” they said.

“If the election is a referendum on Biden’s failures, and we frame it as that with a candidate like me offering a better path for America, we will win the election,” DeSantis told the Daily Wire. “If it becomes a referendum on side issues or other things and Biden’s allowed to stay in his basement all campaign like he did last time, then I fear that the Democrats will be able to win.”

Thursday, Casey DeSantis will launch “Mamas for DeSantis” as part of her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign in Iowa on July 6.

Joined by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, the Florida first lady will continue the originally-DeSantis reelection initiative by working to recruit hundreds of thousands of moms to support the governor’s presidential bid.

Casey DeSantis started the initiative in June 2022 to boost Gov. Ron DeSantis’ gubernatorial reelection.

Ultimately, the “Mamas for DeSantis” campaign mobilized 1.1 million mothers to “help keep Florida free.”

“Florida is the best place in the nation to raise a family. We stand up for children by keeping schools open, protecting our communities, preventing woke indoctrination of our kids, and protecting parents’ rights,” DeSantis has previously said.

“We are providing record tax relief for families — from diapers and household items to pet food. As Governor, we will continue to deliver for Florida families.”

DeSantis’ 2024 campaign described the initiative as the “largest movement of parents in Florida history and helped deliver Governor DeSantis a historic, 20-point victory on November 8, 2022. “

“The Governor’s extensive policy achievements for Florida children and parents attracted unprecedented support in every part of the state. As a result, Governor DeSantis won female voters by 9 percent,” they said in a press release.

The event is slated to be held in Johnston, Iowa on Thursday, July 6.

Reynolds, a fellow Republican governor, has appeared alongside DeSantis multiple times.
