DeSantis trails Biden nationally as primary continues, polls show
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis trails President Joe Biden nationally by a narrow 2.8% as of mid-September, current polling suggests.

The polls date from late-August to mid-September.
In the Republican presidential primary, DeSantis trails former President Donald Trump by a national average of nearly 45 points, though the governor’s campaign has prioritized early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire, vital for an insurgent candidate looking to gain momentum,
Iowa and New Hampshire hold the first caucus and primary, taking place in early-2024.
When DeSantis launched his campaign in late-May, he had around 21% national support. He gained a slight bump to 23% post-announcement, but has since lost support, now hovering around 13%.
Trump, strongly ahead in the Republican primary, also recently peaked in national polling against Biden, and continues to lead the current president.
The current polling average puts Trump at 45.1% and Biden at 44.6%.
The former president peaked at around 45.6%.
Trump spiked in support from late-August, jumping from around 43% support to nearly 46% in just under a month.
The spike began just around Aug. 25, the time when Trump had his historic mugshot taken in a Georgia criminal case against him.
