Windham, N.H. – Gov. Ron DeSantis said he wants former President Donald Trump to tell supporters if he has publicly ruled out the former governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, as his pick for vice president if Trump wins the nomination in 2024.

DeSantis made the comments during a town hall in New Hampshire on Friday, where he answered questions from the audience. The Florida governor said he wants to see Trump answer whether or not Haley is ruled out as a possible pick for vice president.

DeSantis said Trump “owes his supporters an answer to that.”

“Can he tell his core supporters, the people that have been with through thick and thin, who want an America first agenda, can he tell them that under no circumstances will he select Nikki Haley as his running mate?” DeSantis said.

He also said he doesn’t think Haley is “willing to say” that she would not accept the vice presidential slot from Trump.

DeSantis said “the only way out of this mess” is to nominate him to be the next president.

Last month, Trump posted on Truth Social about the Americans for Prosperity Action organization, a conservative political advocacy group, backing Haley for President.

The former president referred to Haley as “Birdbrain” and said the endorsement was a “hit” for Ron DeSanctimonious, which is his nickname for DeSantis.

DeSantis also said he believes Haley is not going to win the primary and she is “taking votes from people who don’t want Trump.”

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., previously said he would “go great lengths” to ensure Haley is not Trump’s pick for vice president. His sister-in-law, Lara Trump, was asked about the pick and she replied, “never say never.”
