TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Republican Party of Florida Vice Chairman Evan Power announced his run for Florida’s national committeeman seat on the Republican National Committee.

“After meeting with and spending time with my fellow State Executive Committee members we all seem to agree that Floridians are growing tired of winning big elections here in Florida but then seeing that those victories do not carry over to the rest of the Country,” Power said in a press release.

“Florida needs a fighter that will work to bring the successes that we have achieved here in Florida to the Republican National Committee,” he added.

Along with his role as the state party’s vice chairman, Power has served as the chairman of Leon County’s Republican Executive Committee since 2014, as well as the Republican Party of Florida’s chair of chairs and a two-time delegate at the Republican National Convention.

“Florida has led the way, and we need to make sure our values are represented at the Republican National Committee,” Power said. “We need to ensure that the RNC is prepared to win across the Country so that we can save our Country from the radical left that is destroying our Republic.”

“Florida had one of the most successful conservative election nights in generations in 2022,” he added.

“We have been blessed with effective conservative leadership from local School Boards all the way to the Governor’s Mansion, but all that success does not matter when we allow Democrats to win races nationwide and try to hollow out our Country,” he said. “That is why Florida needs a relentless fighter on the RNC.”

The Republican Party of Florida had a very successful showing during the 2022 midterm elections.

Gov. Ron DeSantis won his reelection during that year with nearly a 20 point gap between his Democratic opponent, compared to four years prior where the race resulted in a narrow 0.4% margin.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., also had a successful reelection night in 2022, securing nearly 58% of the vote.

Other key parts of the country did not fare as well when it came to Republican candidates winning statewide and congressional races.

Florida also had a strong 2023 legislative session that included a plethora of conservative policy deliveries thanks to a Republican supermajority in the State House and Senate.
