TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – The Florida Republican Party called out state Democrats after Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried shared an invitation for an evening reception that said “all attendees will be required to comply with COVID-19 protocols.”

The Florida GOP shared an invitation on Twitter to an evening reception in support of the Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund from Fried, which said all attendees must comply with COVID-19 protocols in order to attend.

The Florida GOP said “they should probably just do their part and stay at home.”

Florida’s Voice reached out to the Florida Democratic Party and they did not provide an immediate response.

In January, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced coronavirus vaccine discrimination would not be tolerated and proposed new measures to permanently ban COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates. The current law regarding these bans is set to expire on June 1.

DeSantis and Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo have repeatedly questioned the effectiveness of coronavirus mask and vaccine mandates.

Fried has been an advocate for coronavirus masks and vaccines. She has called out DeSantis multiple times, saying he “lied” in 2021 and withheld coronavirus test kits from Floridians.

Fried previously held a press conference claiming the DeSantis administration is “blocking” a parent’s access to COVID vaccines for young children, even though parents can receive the vaccines across the state at healthcare facilities and pharmacies.

The state does not recommend the vaccine be administered to healthy children.
