TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Police Chiefs Association announced their endorsement of Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott’s reelection campaign on Monday.

In a campaign press release, Florida Police Chiefs Association President Charles Broadway said they know Scott “has law enforcement’s back,” and said they are “proud to have his.”

“On behalf of the Florida Police Chiefs Association, we are honored to endorse Senator Rick Scott for reelection to the United States Senate,” Broadway said.

“Whether he’s fighting back against efforts to defund the police, or fighting for safer learning environments, Senator Scott knows that maintaining public safety is the foundation of Florida’s success story,” Broadway continued.

Scott said he is “honored” to receive the endorsement.

“This group is critical to our state and they care deeply about providing all Floridians with the opportunity to live safely,” Scott said.

“Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies have wreaked havoc on states like New York and California and we cannot ever let Florida go down that path,” he said.

The Florida senator said he will continue to “fight for Florida law enforcement in Washington so they have the tools they need to do their job.”

“Senator Scott is committed to combatting the fentanyl crisis, protecting Florida students, and keeping Floridians safe. He will aggressively fight for funding for grant programs that provide services for police officers and their families,” a press release from the campaign stated.

The Florida senator was elected in 2018 and assumed office in 2019. He announced his reelection to the Senate earlier this year.

Florida’s Voice reported Scott was endorsed by 59 Florida sheriffs in July, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida in September.
