TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Republicans expanded their lead over Democrats to nearly 590,000 registered voters.

“Florida is home to incredible state elected officials and a well-oiled grassroots machine,” Republican Party of Florida Chairman Christian Ziegler said.

Republicans grew their lead over Florida Democrats to 588,930 registered voters as of Aug. 31, per numbers from the Florida Department of State.

“Combined with just how extreme the Democrat Party has become – supporting open borders, defunding the police, enacting socialism, and weaponizing our justice system – this has led to an incredible voter registration swing of 588,930 toward the Republican Party since 2018,” the GOP chairman continued.

The prime reason for the lead expansion for the Florida GOP is the massive losses among Democrats compared to Republicans, the data from the Florida Department of State shows.

Since November, Republicans have averaged a loss of around 13,000 voters per month, while Democrats have averaged more than 39,000.

Since 2016, 25 counties flipped from Democrat to Republican, and 15 counties flipped red since January 2018.

Since Nov. 30, 2022, Republicans have lost over 118,000 voters. Democrats have lost around 351,000 voters, more than twice the rate of Republicans. Republicans have expanded their lead by over 232,000 for that same time period.

Recent voter registration facts, as noted by the Florida GOP, include:

  • 919,358 Increase in Republican advantage since 2016
  • 287,861 Decrease in Democrat registration since 2016
  • An increase in Republican advantage of 846,105 since 2018
  • A decrease in Democrat registration of 358,051 since 2018
  • An increase in Republican advantage of 204,976 since Jan. 1
  • A decrease in Democrat registration of 310,324 since Jan 1
  • 25 Counties have flipped from Democrat to Republican since January 2016
  • 15 Counties have flipped from Democrat to Republican since January 2018

“The darker red our state becomes, the better it is for our state, local communities, and families,” Ziegler said.

“But we cannot – and will not – get complacent. Our communities, and most importantly, our children, are counting on us to continue our efforts until there is no Democrat in office or considering running for office in Florida.”
