TAMPA, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis proclaimed on Tuesday that the globe was more “peaceful” and better off under former President Donald Trump.

The comments come after the two met for hours on Sunday, resulting in kind words from Trump on his social media platform Monday.

Asked by a reporter his thoughts on President Joe Biden’s tenure as president and odds of winning in Florida, DeSantis responded with a chuckle, derided Biden’s record and praised Trump’s.

“And oh by the way – is this world more peaceful than it was when Trump was president? Not even close,” DeSantis said. “Biden’s been a failed leader.”

Under Biden, wars have broken out between Russia and Ukraine, along with Israel and Hamas.

DeSantis also said he welcomes the Biden-Harris campaign into spending money in Florida, given the perception of its deep-red trend and likelihood that the funds would not result in Biden making the race competitive.

Trump said this week he is “very happy” to have gained DeSantis’ commitment in supporting his 2024 election bid.

The two met in Miami over the weekend and reportedly spoke for hours.

“I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida,” Trump said Monday. “We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff, at his beautiful Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida.”

“The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” the former president said. “Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC! I greatly appreciate Ron’s support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!”
