Hollywood Pride event will have Drag Queen Story Hour for kids, ‘Teen Chat,’ ‘banned’ books

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The My Hollywood Pride street festival event on Jan. 28 will include a Drag Queen Story Hour for kids, “teen chat,” “banned books” from the Hollywood Branch Library, and more.

My Hollywood Pride Street Festival is “open to all with entertainment, food, and lots of activities for adults and kids alike.”

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council Board Members, and Hollywood city officials will be present at the opening ceremonies, according to the event page.

The “Youth Programming” is advertised from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and lists multiple activities and events:

The event website did not provide further details on the “teen chat” or “Drag Queen Story Hour.”

Sponsors can advertise in the kids zone/teen zone for $5,000, according to the website.

The street festival also has a lineup of performances throughout the day.

Broward County and the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce are listed as “community partners” for the event. 

My Hollywood Pride, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit as determined by the Internal Revenue Service, and is governed by a board of directors that oversees the Pride Committee, which develops programming and activations around the annual My Hollywood Pride.
