TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast, is the latest major GOP leader pledging a large amount of cash to the Republican Party of Florida.

On Tuesday, he and the party announced a donation from Renner of $100,000.

“The 2024 elections will be one of the most consequential in our history and it is critical the Republican Party of Florida has all the necessary resources to elect Republicans at the local, state, and federal levels to keep our state and our nation moving forward,” Renner said.

“Thank you to all who work for conservative principles and ideals, so Florida remains the best place to live, work, visit, and raise a family,” he said.

The donation is the latest of several high-profile cash pledges – including $100,000 each from Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, R-Bartow, and $50,000 from House Speaker-Designate Daniel Perez, R-Miami.

“We thank Speaker Renner for his commitment to build the Republican Party to help from school boards, county, city to statewide races,” said Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power.

“Speaker Renner has delivered big conservative victories in the legislature and his commitment to the party will help us continue to deliver electoral victories,” he said.

Since the start of this year – when Power became chairman of the state party – the donations from state leaders total $350,000.

Renner is the outgoing House speaker, serving since the end of 2022 in the leadership role. He is set to hand the leadership position over to Perez later this year.

Simpson was the first of these state leaders to send large sums of cash to the Florida GOP, saying in January that it’s critical to give Republicans necessary resources to continue winning.

“Florida is a red state because we have put in the work consistently to ensure conservative leaders who deliver results are supported,” Simpson said at the time. “With Evan’s leadership, I am confident the RPOF and the hardworking grassroots army will execute the fundamentals necessary to win in November, and I am eager to ensure they have the resources they need.”

The November elections are now just seven months away, and Democrats have gained enthusiasm with the placement of a ballot initiative that could constitutionally protect abortion.
