TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – As a Florida state senator, I am committed to improving the lives of residents across Florida.

That’s why I’m focused on a growing problem affecting Floridians: access to dental care. A key factor contributing to this issue is a severe shortage of dentists, and other dental professionals that makes it difficult for residents to maintain regular care.

Unfortunately, current Florida regulations exacerbate this issue by making it difficult for out-of-state dental professionals to relocate to Florida due to the significant financial and time burdens required to acquire a Florida license.

The good news is a bill I’ve sponsored would give dental professionals who meet certain requirements a less burdensome path towards Florida licensure. This would translate to expanding dental care for millions of Floridians by creating a more streamlined process for occupational licensing across state lines – making it easier for individuals to move to and work in Florida.

And it would be particularly beneficial for military spouses, who frequently move due to their partner’s service and face challenges in maintaining their own careers.

Join me in advancing oral health care for Floridians by reducing barriers to entry for dental professionals
