WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., filed a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives to expel Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., over his involvement in the Trump-Russia collusion narrative and investigation.

Luna’s resolution came after Special Counsel John Durham’s report was presented to Congress, which found the FBI did not apply the same rigorous standards to allegations against former President Donald Trump’s campaign compared to others, like then-candidate Hillary Clinton.

Schiff played an outsized role in the narrative that Trump colluded with the Russian government to defeat Clinton in 2016, famously saying in 2017 there was “more than circumstantial evidence” of collusion.

The California Democrat served on the House Intelligence Committee and was chairman from 2019 to 2023.

“Knowingly using your position on House Intel to push a lie that ripped apart our country, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, and authorized spying on a US President and then proceeding to double down on the lie within days of the Durham report coming out makes you unfit for office,” Luna said. “Ethics should investigate.”

The resolution from Luna cites Article I, Section 5, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution, which states each chamber of Congress can “punish its members for disorderly behaviour, and, with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a member.”

The House is currently composed of 222 Republicans and 213 Democrats. That means to expel Schiff, Luna would need to garner at least 290 members. Assuming all Republicans support the measure, at least 68 Democrats would need to agree.

Schiff responded to Luna’s filing, calling her a “MAGA Republican Member of Congress” who wants “payback.”

“I stood up to Donald Trump and held extreme MAGA forces accountable,” he said. “Now they want payback. They’ll go after anyone who defends the rule of law.”

Schiff replied to his statement with a link to his fundraising page.

“When this chapter is written, it will record: When Republicans lacked the courage to stand up to the most unethical president in history, they consoled themselves by attacking those who did. I’m not backing down,” he said.
