PINELLAS COUNTY (FLV) – Pinellas County announced mandatory evacuation orders for all residents in Evacuation Zone A, including all mobile home residents, beginning at 6 p.m. Monday.

All residential healthcare facilities are under mandatory evacuation orders beginning Monday. Mandatory orders for evacuation zones B and C will be effective Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.

“Remember, evacuations typically do not have to be hundreds of miles away. You can escape the wind and the water by just moving tens of miles away,” FDEM Director Kevin Guthrie said.

In Hillsborough County, a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Zone Level A, and voluntary evacuation order for Zone Level B has been issued, including all low-lying areas, mobile and manufactured homes starting at 2 p.m. on September 26, 2022 due to Hurricane Ian.

“Please treat this storm very seriously… be prepared for anything,” said Hillsborough County Emergency Management Director Timothy Dudley, Jr.

Hurricane Ian is expected to be a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico during the middle of this week.
