MELBOURNE, Fla. – U.S. Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., has received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump for reelection.

Posey represents Florida’s 8th Congressional District. The district encompasses coastal areas east of Orlando, from Titusville to south of Melbourne and Palm Bay.

The former president called Posey a “fantastic Representative for the incredible people of Florida’s 8th Congressional District.”

“A Conservative Warrior, Bill works hard to Secure the Border, Grow our Economy, Support our Military, Veterans, and Law Enforcement, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment. Bill Posey is an America First FIGHTER, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Trump said.

In February, Posey received the endorsement of U.S. Rep Jim Jordan, R-Ohio.

““Bill Posey is Pro-Trump, Pro-Gun, Pro-Life, and as America First as it gets. He is a workhorse—not a show horse. Bill Posey is a key fighter in our battle against the Washington Swamp and the radical left, and exactly the kind of patriot we need in Congress,” Jordan said.

In his eighth term overall, Posey was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, serving Florida’s 15th Congressional District. He has presided over Florida’s 8th Congressional District since 2013.

Posey also served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000 and the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2008.

Seeking his eighth term, Posey specified jobs and the economy, securing America’s border, health care reform, veterans and national security, and achieving energy independence as some of his top issues.

Florida’s 8th Congressional District primary election is scheduled for Aug. 20. Posey, Joseph Babits, John Hearton and Brian Jones have all declared for the Republican seat. The general election is scheduled for Nov. 5.
