WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., said she will file an amendment to block federal funding for a lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice against SpaceX for “discriminating against asylees and refugees.”

SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded by Elon Musk in 2002.

The lawsuit alleges that from at least September 2018 to May 2022, SpaceX “routinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying and refused to hire or consider them, because of their citizenship status, in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act.”

“I will be filing an amendment this fall to block federal funding for this appalling lawsuit,” Luna announced.

“This is America. And you are well within your right to hire AMERICAN citizens without getting Biden’s DOJ minions sent after you,” Luna said.

The DOJ said in job postings and public statements over several years, SpaceX “wrongly claimed that under federal regulations known as ‘export control laws,’ SpaceX could hire only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, sometimes referred to as ‘green card holders.'”

“Export control laws impose no such hiring restrictions. Moreover, asylees’ and refugees’ permission to live and work in the United States does not expire, and they stand on equal footing with U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents under export control laws,” the DOJ wrote.

The DOJ asked asylees and refugees with “relevant information” to contact the them.

Musk responded to the lawsuit on X, which he purchased in October 2022.

“The weaponization of government agencies needs to stop. This fundamentally undermines public faith in the justice system,” Musk said.

Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke filed the complaint.

Musk said Clarke is “super racist and proud of it,” and called her “anti-Semitic.”

Clarke previously made a statement that said, “Melanin endows blacks with greater mental, physical, and spiritual abilities — something which cannot be measured by Eurocentric standards.”

Former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson previously reported on the statements.
