WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis will hold his first in-person official 2024 presidential campaign rally in Iowa Tuesday evening.

The campaign called Tuesday’s rally in Iowa the “campaign kickoff.”

DeSantis’ event is part of his first slew of early state campaign efforts dubbed “Our Great American Comeback Tour.”

According to DeSantis’ campaign, the program will start 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, or 7 p.m. EST.

It will be available on his Rumble page.

Iowa is the first state to caucus in presidential primaries, where 40 delegates will be dispersed by the state party to candidates based on the percentage of caucus goers’ votes.

It takes place in early 2024. In 2016, it took place on Jan. 28 in Des Moines.

He will continue visiting Iowa the day after on Wednesday, speaking at a 9 a.m. CT event that morning in Sioux City.

DeSantis’ wife, Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis, will be joining the governor for the tour for the rest of the week.

His “Comeback” tour will extend through Friday, June 2.

The governor is targeting other early primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolina.

On Wednesday, he will be in Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Pella and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Thursday, he travels to New Hampshire, visiting Laconia, Rochester, Salem and Manchester.

Friday, he will wrap up his early campaign tour in Beaufort, Lexington and Greenville, South Carolina.

Both DeSantis and former President Donald Trump, widely understood to be the only viable Republican candidates for the nomination in 2024, racked up endorsements in the early caucus state.

DeSantis picked up around a third of the state Republican legislative caucus as of mid-May, while Trump gained the favor of more than 150 elected officials and “grassroots leaders” across Iowa.

The governor visited Iowa twice in recent months, first appearing with Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds in mid-March, and later appearing at the “Feenstra Family Picnic” in mid-May.

Trump was slated to host a rally coinciding with DeSantis’ visit in the middle of May, but it was canceled due to “tornado threats.”

DeSantis’ rally comes after a glitchy Twitter campaign launch, followed by days of media interviews where he immediately dug into Trump on issues like personnel picks, the 2nd Amendment, Dr. Anthony Fauci and more.
