FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott garnered endorsements on Monday from major building groups in Southwest Florida.

The event kicked off Scott’s “Builders for Rick Scott coalition.”

Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds attended Scott’s event.

“[Scott] was a great governor for the State of Florida and is a tremendous U.S. Senator for our nation,” Donalds said. “I am proud to endorse Senator Rick Scott for reelection and we need his leadership now more than ever in Washington.”

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno also attended Scott’s campaign event in Fort Myers, where the following groups endorsed Scott:

  • Sims Crane & Equipment Company
  • Florida Crane Owners Association
  • Gulf Coast Builders Exchange
  • National Association of Home Builders
  • Florida Home Builders Association
  • Florida Transportation Builders Association
  • Greater Orlando Builders Association
  • Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida
  • Latin Builders Association
  • SunCoast Contractors Supply
  • Lee Building Industry Association

“It’s been an honor to work with all of these groups first as governor, and now as senator. When I’m re-elected, I will continue to fight for low taxes and unnecessary government regulations that hampers growth,” the senator said.

“I will continue holding Democrats accountable for their job-killing Green New Deal agenda and economic policies that have caused crippling inflation that has hurt Florida builders,” he said. “There’s still so much work left to do. Together, we’re going to win big in November and get our nation back on track.”

Lee Building Industry Association President Carl Barraco Jr. said the senator has pushed forward policies promoting jobs and the growth of building companies.

“He has been up in Washington fighting to cut burdensome regulations that bog down Florida builders,” Barraco said.

Scott’s opponent come November is set to be former Democratic Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.
