Socialist Democrats are Silent and Manipulative on the Reason Behind Cuban Protests

The past week, protests have erupted in Cuba from citizens being fed up with the brutal socialist regime controlling their daily lives.

The clear reasoning behind the protests can be seen in videos like this, where protestors are tearing up posters of Fidel Castro, a socialist dictator. Democrats are soft, silent, and manipulative on the grievances of the Cuban people.

Cubans want freedom, just like Hong Kong did in 2019, where they waved American flags:

Here, another video shows massive chants of “Libertad!”

With the obvious purpose of the demonstrations being made clear, Democrats and leftists either flat-out lied or deflected and postponed admitting the real reasons behind the protests.

Democrat and socialist Senator Bernie Sanders danced around the Cuban people’s cry for a socialist free society, tweeting about the U.S. embargo as a main reason for Cuba’s issue, rather than socialist authoritarianism.

The main talking point of the left on Cuba has been the embargo the U.S. has on Cuba. The stated purpose of the embargo is to strongly encourage, via economic ramifications, the Cuban regime to democratize and cease brutality towards its citizens.

Social media also saw a Democrat State Department official, Julie Chung, explicitly arguing that the demonstrations in Cuba are in response to “rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortage.” It is clear what the goal of the Democrats is: cover up any instance where socialism fails. This is their ultimate ideology and vision for America after all. The clear desire of the left, though, is power.

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas said that Cuban refugees attempting to seek refuge in America by boat “will not come to the United States,” to the outcry of many.

If intercepted refugees by boat are deemed to qualify for refugee status, the U.S. refers them to another country for resettlement. On the other hand, any migrant coming from land is eligible for refugee status if they meet the legal requirements.

The motive behind this cannot be any clearer: Democrats want to use migration control to secure voters. Cubans are one of the most conservative-voting blocs in the country and would most heavily concentrate in Florida, a state that is gaining population and becoming more Republican.

According to Pew Research Center, a whopping 58% of Cuban American voters were either Republican or leaned Republican in 2020. Keep in mind, this is a poll by a traditionally left-biased website. The real number is probably higher.

Non-Cuban Hispanics are only 32% Republican or lean Republican, according to the poll. See why Democrats only want refugees from the southern border, where the composition of refugees will be vastly non-Cuban? After intense pressure from anti-socialists in America, the White House, to their credit, officially denounced communism and the brutalist habits of the Cuban regime.

President Joe Biden said that Cuba is a “failed state.” “Communism is a failed system – a universally failed system. And I don’t see socialism as a very useful substitute,” he continued.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki additionally condemned communism, saying at a press conference, “Communism is a failed ideology, and we certainly believe that it has failed the people of Cuba.”

Conservatives should applaud this kind of rhetoric. The White House deserves credit for denouncing communism and even going so far as to say socialism is not a “useful substitute.” This is the first major instance where the Biden Administration has so explicitly opposed a large wing of their party. I am sure it was not of Biden’s own volition to make this move, but it was made nonetheless.

America is supposed to be a country where every member of government, despite even vehement disagreement, loves the country and does not demonize and antagonize large swaths of the population based on reasonable political disagreements.

Many Democrats though, have proved they despise the American way of life, and a large wing of them are self-avowed socialists. While the rhetoric from the White House is refreshing, it will most likely lead to zero change in the Democrat Party’s platform and rhetoric from those like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

It should not have taken the White House this long to simply denounce communism, the reason for these protests that began five days ago.
