Thomas Massie endorses DeSantis for president, urges him to run

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., endorsed Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in 2024.

“America needs a leader who is decisive, respects the Constitution, understands policy, puts family first, and leads by inspiring. That’s why I’m endorsing Ron DeSantis for President,” Massie said in a press release.

Massie said he’s been a friend of DeSantis’ for six years, with both of them having served in Congress. DeSantis resigned to run for Florida governor in 2018.

“I witnessed Ron fight for economic freedom, personal liberty, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally limited government,” he said. “Ron has always surrounded himself with capable people who share his principles.”

“Ron Knows that putting America first means putting Americans first, not corporations, and he’s never backed down from a fight with the big guys in pharma, agriculture, and tech.”

Massie concluded by urging voters to vote for DeSantis in 2024.

“If we make the right choices, America’s best days are in front of us. Let’s pick a proven energetic leader who can get us there. Let’s choose Ron DeSantis for President.”

DeSantis has not said he is running for president, but previously said he is waiting for the Florida Legislature to wrap up its legislative session in May before making any “national” political decision.

A super PAC called “Never Back Down” was formed urging DeSantis to run for office, founded by Ken Cuccinelli.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, endorsed DeSantis earlier in March.

“Governor @RonDeSantisFL has now been endorsed by two of the most consistent, conservative Republicans in Congress – @ChipRoyTX and @RepThomasMassie!” the group tweeted.
