INDIANOLA, Iowa – Former President Donald Trump did some last minute campaigning over the weekend in preparation for the Republican Party’s Iowa caucus on Monday.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum joined Trump during a rally in Indianola to endorse the former president. Burgum previously ran in the 2024 GOP primary, but dropped out in December 2023.

“Under President Trump, America was safe and prosperous,” Burgum said. “And tomorrow, when you caucus, you have an opportunity to send a message to the nation and send a message to the world that Donald J. Trump will make America Great Again!”

During the rally, Trump gave his final pitch to Iowa voters as to why they should caucus for the former president on Monday. He also called out his primary opponents, particularly Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

“Under the Trump administration, you were better off, your family was better off, your neighbors were better off, your communities were better off and our country was better off,” Trump said. “We were never stronger than we were just three years ago.”

“Unlike Ron and Nikki, we will always protect Medicare and Social Security for our seniors,” he added. “We’re not going to hurt our seniors.”

“Nikki Haley even supported ‘RINO’ Paul Ryan’s 2011 plan to destroy Medicare and the very same plan that led to Democrat television ads showing Republicans wheeling granny off the cliff,” he said.

Trump also outlined his border policy, vowing to initiate the “largest deportation operation in American History.”

Additionally, Trump spent time on Sunday delivering pizzas to first responders at the Waukee Fire Department.

The former president also snagged the endorsements of Sens. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla.

The Trump campaign had to come up with an adjusted weekend schedule due to weather concerns, ultimately canceling three out of the four rallies the former president was expected to host.
