DES MOINES, Iowa (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump slammed fellow presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis in a town hall Thursday evening.

When asked by Fox News host Sean Hannity about the growing list of Republicans who are entering the race for president, Trump dismissed the other candidates.

“I don’t think it matters. I don’t know why people are doing it, they’re at 1%, some are at zero,” Trump said.

Trump then took aim at DeSantis and mocked the governor’s viral interaction with a member of the press in New Hampshire.

“He had a very bad day today, he got very angry at the press. You’re not allowed to get angry at the press,” Trump said. “At the fake news, he got angry.”

The former president was referring to a campaign stop in New Hampshire in which DeSantis was asked why he was not taking questions from voters, to which the governor responded that he was doing just that.

“People are coming up to me, talking to me,” the governor replied. “What are you talking about? Are you blind?”

Trump also called for a return to economic strength and highlighted some of his administration’s fiscal policies.

“We gave you the biggest tax cut in the history of our country. Bigger than the Ronald Reagan tax cuts,” Trump said. “More importantly, we gave you the biggest regulation cuts, that’s why he had more jobs than we’ve ever had before.”

Trump also responded to DeSantis’s claim that the former president would not be as effective in office as he would only be able to serve four years while the governor could serve eight if re-elected.

“Frankly, I wouldn’t vote for him because he said you need eight years. You need six months, we’re gonna drill, we’re gonna get our energy down,” Trump said. “When the energy comes down, other things come down and we’re gonna take care of things.”
