CLEVELAND (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump is garnering significant support from key Republicans in Ohio as he seeks the party’s 2024 presidential nomination.

Trump’s campaign received a boost with recent endorsements from prominent figures in the state, including state Treasurer Robert Sprague as well as Reps. Troy Balderson and Bill Johnson.

Sprague, who is term-limited, expressed his endorsement, praising Trump’s leadership for a robust economy, energy independence, and strong foreign policy.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, our nation’s economy was strong,” said Sprague. “We were achieving energy independence, our allies respected us and our enemies feared us.”

Balderson and Johnson also threw their support behind Trump, emphasizing the need to return to the “America First” policies of the former president’s first term.

Johnson, whose district includes East Palestine, a town where Trump criticized President Joe Biden for not visiting after a toxic trail derailment incident, endorsed Trump’s leadership and vision for the future.

“It’s time to return to the America First, common-sense policies of the first-term of President Donald Trump, and that’s why I am pleased to endorse him in 2024,” Johnson said.

The endorsements add to an already extensive list of supporters in Ohio for Trump, including Sen. JD Vance as well as Mike Carey, Reps. Max Miller, and Jim Jordan.

Additionally, two of Ohio’s three GOP 2024 Senate candidates, Secretary of State Frank LaRose and businessman Bernie Moreno, have also pledged their support to the former president.

While Trump’s endorsements have garnered immense support from several prominent Ohio Republicans, notable names such as Gov. Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, and Attorney General Dave Yost have not yet thrown their weight behind Trump or any other candidates.

As the 2024 elections draw closer, Ohio has emerged as a crucial battleground state where Trump’s growing support may play a pivotal role in determining the Republican nominee and potentially the next president of the United States.
