WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump responded to rumors he may be considering former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for vice president in 2024.

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign has been targeting Trump over the issue.

“Are you considering her?” Real America’s Voice host John Solomon asked Trump.

“Well, Nikki, I know very well, and I actually got along with her very well – and she wasn’t going to run,” Trump said. “She said I was a great president and she would not run as long as I ran.”

Continuing, Trump called Haley “disloyal” for running, but said DeSantis is moreso.

“I actually got along with her very well, as you know, she left at a nice ceremony at the White House,” he said. “She said terrific things about me. She said he’s a great president and then she decided out of nowhere to run.”

“So I was a little bit surprised at that, but that’s a politician,” Trump said. “No, I’m not considering anybody at this time.”

Trump said that he wants “to win” and said the vice presidential pick has “virtually no impact” on who wins the nomination throughout history, a phenomenon he called “surprising.”

DeSantis previously said Trump “owes his supporters an answer” to the Haley question.

“Can he tell his core supporters, the people that have been with through thick and thin, who want an America first agenda, can he tell them that under no circumstances will he select Nikki Haley as his running mate?” DeSantis said.

He also said he doesn’t think Haley is “willing to say” that she would not accept the vice presidential slot from Trump.
