WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump expressed his support for Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota, if the state senator were to run for chief financial officer of Florida.

“I am hearing that America First Patriot Joe Gruters is considering launching his Campaign for Chief Financial Officer of the Great State of Florida,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Joe was on the ‘Trump Train’ before it even left the station and, if he decides to run, he will have my Complete and Total Endorsement.”

The last statewide cabinet election took place in 2022. The current chief financial officer, Jimmy Patronis, will be termed out of office come the 2026 election.

“As a State Senator and Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Joe has done more than anyone to help turn Florida RED, and elect Republicans across the State,” Trump continued. “A decorated CPA, Joe is a ‘ROCKSTAR,’ who will work hard to Grow our Economy, Stop Illegal Immigration, Strongly Support Law Enforcement, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”

“RUN JOE, RUN! This is an Endorsement I would love to make,” he said.

Gruters thanked the former president in a post on social media.

“President Trump is the ‘Rockstar.’ I am extremely thankful for his support! Look forward to helping him win back the White House!” he said.

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Palm Bay, who recently received Trump’s support for his state senate campaign, congratulated Gruters on the endorsement.

Gruters previously received an endorsement from the former president preceding his selection as Republican national committeeman of the Florida GOP in February.

Gruters is a major ally of Trump, and endorsed him very early on in the 2024 race, before Gov. Ron DeSantis launched his own bid, later dropping out.
