DES MOINES, Iowa (FLV) – Nine Florida Republicans are set to join former President Donald Trump as he makes a high-profile appearance at the Iowa state fair.

Trump’s strategic move, which aims to shift media attention away from Gov. Ron DeSantis, underlines the ongoing dynamics within the Republican Party.

Confirmed by Trump’s campaign to the Des Moines Register, U.S. Reps. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., Byron Donalds, Matt Gaetz, Carlos Gimenez, Brian Mast, Cory Mills, Anna Paulina Luna, Greg Steube, and Mike Waltz will join the former president at the Iowa State Fair.

Notably, each of these Florida representatives has publicly endorsed Trump, signaling their preference over their own governor also scheduled to appear at the fair on the same day.

This contest of endorsements further accentuates the internal dynamics and political jockeying within the Republican Party.

As Trump’s visit is expected to bring heightened security measures and Secret Service presence, questions arise about potential impacts on the fair’s operations and crowd sizes on what is typically a busy Saturday. At present, a spokesperson for the Iowa State Fair has not provided immediate comments regarding these concerns.

Trump’s history with the Iowa State Fair dates back to 2015 when he generated attention by landing his helicopter nearby and offering rides to children.
