TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis announced more than $6.5 million in infrastructure funding Thursday.

The funds will be used to improve supply chains and “increase access” to some industrial sites, the governor’s office said.

The Job Growth Grant Fund is where the money came from, which received $75 million from the current fiscal year’s state budget.

“These infrastructure investments will support local economies and create nearly 3,000 new jobs,” DeSantis said. “In Florida, we are focused on making investments in competitive industries like manufacturing, which will continue to pave the way for a strong, resilient economy that generates business growth.”

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners will receive around $4.7 million for an industrial park, the City of Ormond Beach will receive $1.6 million to improve access to a local airport, and Haines City will gain $200,000 to fix a rail spur, the governor’s office said.

“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, key investments like today’s awards to Ormond Beach, Marion County and Haines City focus on Florida’s future by providing site-ready infrastructure to their communities,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce Alex Kelly.
