WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., made an analogy that former President Donald Trump is as necessary for strong “Trump” policies in the U.S. as some major company leaders are to their own companies’ success.

“Those running against [Trump] are testing a premise: That you can get all the policies that he brought in place without the man – without the leader,” Waltz said on Fox News Monday,

“That’s kind of like saying you get SpaceX without Elon [Musk], or you get Apple without Steve Jobs,” he said. “You don’t get the America first policies, that everyone loved and everybody wants to get back to without the leader of the movement.”

Waltz additionally predicted an “overwhelming victory” for Trump in the Republican Iowa caucus.

Waltz endorsed Trump for president in April 2023, before fellow Floridian Gov. Ron DeSantis entered the race, along with other Florida congressional members.

Other arguments Waltz has made for Trump throughout the 2024 cycle include world safety and Middle East foreign policy.

“No matter what you think of them politically, it is a fact that the Middle East was better off after President Trump,” Waltz previously said. “ISIS was defeated. Iran was broke. And we had the Abraham Accords because he understood deterrence, and he understood that peace would only be restored once Iran met American steel.”

Trump previously noted that his foreign policy would return to that of 2017-2021: “Our enemies knew that if you try to kill our citizens, we will kill you […] We do it because we want to make sure that we’re not starting wars.”
