WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump announced he’d be hosting a “great group” of congressional members at Mar-a-Lago who endorsed him for 2024.

The announcement comes after his team having pounced on locking down Florida congressional endorsements in anticipation of Gov. Ron DeSantis entering the race after May.

Over the past couple days, Trump added Florida Republican Reps. Mike Waltz, Vern Buchanan and Brian Mast to his increasingly long list of Florida endorsements.

He also recently gained the 2024 endorsement of other Florida Republican Reps. like John Rutherford, Greg Steube, Cory Mills, Byron Donalds, Matt Gaetz and Anna Paulina Luna.

Thursday morning, Trump posted on TRUTH Social that he’d be hosting “a great group of supportive Florida Congressmen and Congresswomen, all who have Endorsed me,” at Mar-a-Lago that evening.

“Our support is almost universal in Florida and throughout the USA,” Trump said. “They remember fondly all of the incredible things I did while in office, one of the most successful Administrations in History. Will be a great night!”

So far, DeSantis only received a Florida congressional endorsement from former Florida Secretary of State Laurel Lee, now a U.S. representative. DeSantis has not declared his candidacy yet.

DeSantis is rumored to be planning a run, and he has been traveling the country for months, most recently making two campaign-style stops in South Carolina.

However, DeSantis is claimed to be bound by the resign-to-run law, which the Florida Legislature has not yet proposed or passed any changes that would theoretically allow him to remain governor while being a candidate.

The governor said he’d make a decision on running for president after the session wraps up in May.
