MELBOURNE, Fla. – Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice challenged American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten to a televised debate on the topic of the “failing education system” in New York City.

“I will be in New York City on January 18th and I will be happy to debate Randi Weingarten at any national news station of her choice – even her favorite MSNBC,” Justice said in a press release.

She added that it is time for Weingarten to “take responsibility for the damage done” to children’s education

“Randi Weingarten says she represents 1.7 million K-12 public school teachers and supposedly advocates for high quality education, yet she manages to continually ignore the fact that only 33% of fourth graders are reading on grade level,” Justice said.

She further said that the American public education system is “failing,” and will continue to fail until someone says “enough is enough.”

“As President of AFT, Randi Weingarten owes students and their parents real answers,” Justice said. “She claims to share a passion for education, so I sincerely hope she is ready to answer the questions of parents across the country – why are we being cut out of our children’s schools?; and why are students performing at the lowest academic levels in US history?”

Before her current position as president of one of the largest teachers unions in the U.S., Weingarten represented roughly 200,000 educators in the New York City Public School System for the federation.
