BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, endorsed Florida Republican Rep. Gus Bilirakis for reelection Wednesday.

“Congressman Bilirakis and I came to Congress in the same freshman class,” Jordan said. “I have seen firsthand that since day one, he has fought the radical left to rein in the federal government, secure our borders, and push back every socialist impulse by democrats to  destroy our great economy.”

Bilirakis is running to again represent Florida’s 12th Congressional District, which encompasses Spring Hill and surrounding areas, just north of Tampa.

“Now, more than ever, we need tested leaders like Gus Bilirakis in Congress as we face unprecedented overreach from big government bureaucrats,” he said.

Jordan had endorsed Trump for president before the campaign began.

Bilirakis endorsed Trump in April 2023.

“I’m proud to earn the endorsement of Rep. Jim Jordan,” Bilirakis said. “As a rock-solid, Pro Trump conservative devoted to the security and prosperity of America, Rep. Jordan is constantly holding the Biden Administration accountable and advancing conservative policy goals.”

Recently, the Center for Effective Lawmaking named Bilirakis the “most effective lawmaker” from Florida.

In the 2022 election, Bilirakis won his seat with over 70% of the vote.

“I look forward to continuing our work together to save America and protect the Trump Agenda,” the Florida Republican said.

In Congress, Bilirakis is a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, chairman of the Innovation, Data and Commerce Subcommittee, and a senior member of the Health Subcommittee and the Communications and Technology Subcommittee.

Per his campaign, since 2015, he sponsored 75 bills that ultimately became U.S. law.

The general election is on Nov. 5.

According to the state, two other Republicans are running as Republicans for District 12: James Judge and Jack Martin. As of late-January, no Democrats have filed for the office yet.

Recently, Bilirakis also gained the endorsement from other pro-Trump Republicans, Florida Reps. Matt Gaetz and Anna Paulina Luna.
