WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Rep. John Rutherford, R-Fla., announced his endorsement of former President Donald Trump for the 2024 election.

“As a former Sheriff, I understand the importance of a fair and impartial system of justice. The systematic targeting of Americans with conservative ideals, especially our 45th President of the United States, disgraces our legacy,” Rutherford said Tuesday.

“As strong Republicans, we must restore Law, Order, and Justice to our country, and President Trump is the right person to do it,” he said. “Under President Trump’s leadership, America was more safe, more secure, and more prosperous, and as the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump will Make America Great Again!”

Rutherford is the latest Florida Republican leader to endorse Trump.

The day prior, Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., announced his endorsement of the former president.

“He’s widely supported in my district, widely supported in Florida. And I’m honored to add my endorsement to the long list of endorsements for President Trump here,” Steube said.

Steube and Rutherford were preceded by fellow Florida Republican Reps. Byron DonaldsCory Mills, Matt Gaetz and Anna Paulina Luna.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is rumored to be considering a run for president in 2024, and is traveling across the country promoting the “Florida Blueprint” and his new book, “The Courage to Be Free.”

DeSantis has previously said he won’t make any announcements until after the Florida Legislature wraps up its session in May.
