Rick Scott: Biden puts U.S. energy jobs ‘on the line’ based on China dictator’s word
TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott said that President Joe Biden is continuing to put U.S. energy jobs “on the line” based on the “word of China’s Communist dictator.”
”American energy workers have suffered immensely under Joe Biden’s Green New Deal Agenda,” Scott said in a press release.
“Joe Biden proudly killed tens of thousands of American energy jobs on his first day in office,” he said. “Now, he’s making deals with Communist China that would wipe out even more U.S. energy jobs and benefit Communist China’s manufacturing industry.”
The press release explained how Biden made an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the leader’s visit to the U.S.
The agreement requires both countries to “recall, reaffirm, and commit” to the April 2021 U.S.-China Joint Statement Addressing the Climate Crisis.
“The United States and China recognize that the climate crisis has increasingly affected countries around the world,” the Sunnylands Statement on Enhancing Cooperation to Address the Climate Crisis states.
Scott said Democrats running for Senate need to answer whether Biden should make “deals” with China.
“It should scare the hell out of every American that we have a president who is willing to put American jobs on the line based on the word of China’s Communist dictator,” he added.
“This is why it is so critical that we take back the Senate and defeat Joe Biden next year before it’s too late,” Scott finished.
The two countries also agreed to join G20 leaders in an effort to triple renewable energy capacity and “increase substitution for coal, oil and gas generation” by 2030.
The two sides had reportedly decided to “operationalize” a bilateral working group that had originally been on pause. The group would “engage in dialogue and cooperation to accept concrete climate actions.”
The countries reportedly promised to ramp up renewable energy such as wind, solar, and battery storage.
“Both sides agree to restart the U.S.-China Energy Efficiency Forum to deepen policy exchanges on energy-saving and carbon-reducing solutions in key areas including industry, buildings, transportation, and equipment,” the statement said.
“Joe Biden has been waging war on American energy since the day he took office,” Scott’s press release read.
“One of his first actions as president was to shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline, wiping out thousands of American energy jobs. And he proposed billions in new tax hikes on the fossil fuel industry,” it continued.
