CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump engaged in a town hall event hosted by Sean Hannity, where he delved into various pressing topics that remain at the forefront of national discourse.

The event, held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, provided a platform for the former president to express his views on issues such as energy independence, international relations, bureaucracy, election integrity and the conflict in Ukraine.

Trump began by emphasizing the significance of energy independence and the reinvigoration of the American military.

“Our country is no longer respected,” Trump said. “Think of it, three years ago, energy independent, a powerful military that was totally rebuilt.”

Turning his attention to Ukraine, Trump expressed concern about the potential escalation of the conflict.

“We have the potential of a war beyond the war with Russia and Ukraine, and that would have never happened before, by the way,” Trump said. “If I were president, that would have never happened.”

The former president also addressed matters related to the classified documents case against him, criticizing what he perceived as baseless allegations.

“I’m protected by the Presidential Records Act, and they come up with this obscure crazy theory… He’s a nasty, horrible human being,” Trump said, referring to the case and prosecutor Jack Smith.

The issue of bureaucracy also featured prominently in the town hall, as Trump voiced his desire to continue removing individuals he perceived as hindrances to effective governance.

“It’s years and years of putting in people, Democrats and RINOs and other people, putting them into office, and we got rid of a lot of them,” Trump said. “But we’re gonna get rid of a lot more.”

The former president appears to be the current frontrunner as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and others vie for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.
