WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Pointing to “loyalty” as a defining factor, former President Donald Trump said Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign is in “total disarray” after the governor’s July 4th appearance in New Hampshire.

Tuesday, DeSantis appeared in New Hampshire for July 4th celebrations. His campaign said “enthusiasm was high” at the events.

“Ron DeSanctimonious is getting absolutely ‘demolished’ for yesterday’s performance in New Hampshire,” Trump said on Truth Social. “No crowds, no enthusiasm, no interest.”

“His Campaign is in total disarray. He’s hurting himself very badly for 2028. See, loyalty does matter with Patriots!” Trump said.

Trump’s theme of “loyalty” has been consistent since rumors of DeSantis running for president began and grew in late-2022 and early-2023.

“Look, Rob DeSanctimonious came to me asking for help. He was losing badly, by 31 points, to popular Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam,” Trump said in May. “He was getting ready to drop out of the race – Ran a terrible campaign! Ron told me he had one last chance, my Support & Endorsement, which Putnam, and everyone else, wanted also.”

“I gave it to Ron, and the race was over. In one day, he went from losing badly, to winning by a lot. With 3 LARGE TRUMP RALLIES, he WON THE GENERAL ELECTION in an upset. DISLOYAL!!!”

DeSantis has pushed back on the “loyalty” argument from the former president, late June saying politicians such as Trump must “earn” support.

“Disloyal to who?” DeSantis said. “Politicians have to earn support. They’re not entitled to support.”

“I did a lot for him in 2016 and 2020,” he continued. “By the way, I was happy to do it.”

“But at the end of the day, you know, I’m loyal to my family, to our constitution and to the good lord, and I have a vision: I think I’m the guy that can beat by Biden, but even more importantly, no more excuses on these issues.”
