A 20 year old man was shot and killed by police in a Minneapolis suburb, Sunday afternoon. Brooklyn Center police say 20-year-old Duante Wright was being arrested for an outstanding warrant at a traffic stop.

Wright attempted to flee police and when he got back in his car he was shot. A press release says the car traveled several blocks before colliding with another car. A female passenger in the car sustained non life threatening injuries. Wright died on scene.

The police chief held a press conference and said he believes the officer meant to taze Wright but accidently shot him instead. The body cam footage has been released.

This shooting comes during the heavily politicized George Floyd trial where former officer Derek Chauvin is being being accused of murder.

Reports say nearly 20 businesses were destroyed. Here’s a look at the chaos Black Lives Matter brought to the suburb. Independent journalist, Rebecca Brannon, was on scene all night.
