TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Off the heels of continued fundraising strength and recent local election wins, Sen. Jonathan Martin, R-Fort Myers, has donated $25,000 to the Republican Party of Florida.

“Thank you [Sen. Jonathan Martin] for your $25,000 investment into the Republican Party of Florida to secure victories up and down the ballot and to ensure the Sunshine State remains the freest state in the nation,” the party announced Thursday.

“As a former member and executive board member of the RPOF, I had the privilege of working shoulder to shoulder with some of the smartest and hardest working conservatives in the country,” Martin said. “Let’s keep winning!”

Shortly after new party Chairman Evan Power took the reins of the Florida GOP, Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson kicked off a slew of state leaders donating large sums to the party as a show of “confidence.”

Simpson and Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, R-Bartow, had donated $100,000, along with House Speaker Paul Renner a couple months later.

“Florida is a red state because we have put in the work consistently to ensure conservative leaders who deliver results are supported,” Simpson said in January. “With Evan’s leadership, I am confident the RPOF and the hardworking grassroots army will execute the fundamentals necessary to win in November, and I am eager to ensure they have the resources they need.”

House Speaker-Designate Daniel Perez, R-Miami, had donated $50,000 to the state party as well.

Rep. Tom Leek, R-Ormond Beach, donated $25,000 to the state party earlier in April.

On top of the GOP outpacing state Democrats in recent fundraising, the GOP has increased its lead to around 900,000 registered voters statewide over Democrats.
