WASHINGTON, D.C. – With the Iowa caucus being just a month away, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., predicted it would be a blowout for former President Donald Trump.

Donalds endorsed Trump for president in April.

“President Donald J. Trump was an American Farmer First president,” Donalds said. “During his administration, he prioritized our farmers and ranchers and provided historic support to this critical industry.”

The Iowa caucus will take place Jan. 15, 2024.

“In just 32 DAYS, Iowans will participate in the First-in-the-Nation Iowa Caucus and deliver President Trump a massive win,” the congressman said. “Every Republican must rally behind President Trump and get ready to take back the White House. #TRUMP2024.”

Trump previously backed Donalds in his reelection race in the 2022 midterms.

“He is doing a great job,” Trump said in 2021. “Byron is strong on Education, a defender of the Second Amendment, fights to protect our border, believes that America should be Energy Independent, and is dedicated to Low Taxes and a Strong Economy.”

Donalds has been campaigning with Trump, and the two were on the ground in Fort Myers earlier this year.

As discussion around who Trump’s pick for vice president will be, Donalds over the summer said he would be onboard if the former president tapped him.

The Florida congressman gained more praise from Trump supporters after going to bat on a CNN panel after Trump participated in a CNN town hall.

“I’ve got your back, Mr. President,” Donalds said in May. “We need President Trump back in the White House. Enough is enough.”

According to the current average of several GOP Iowa caucus polls, Trump holds around 50% support and leads by over 30%.

On top of predicting a strong primary performance, Donalds said in October that Trump will likely gain more support from Black voters compared to 2016 and 2020.

“Oh, it’s [Black support for Trump] growing,” Donalds said on Fox News.

“I will tell you that right now, because at the end of the day, our economy is struggling,” he said. “That’s hurting every segment of America, including Black America.”

The average of national general election polling hands Trump an average 2.3% lead over President Joe Biden as of Thursday.
