Crist Applauds Biden Speech Condemning Trump, MAGA Republicans: ‘I am so Damn Proud of Him For it’

CORAL GABLES (FLV) – Democrat candidate for governor Charlie Crist praised President Joe Biden’s speech where he called Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans an extreme group that “threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

“How many of you saw Joe Biden speak last night on national TV?” Crist asked at a campaign event in Coral Gables Friday.

“God love him. God love him and I do. And he’s told it straight. Democracy is at stake,” Crist said. “Our freedoms are at stake and the president laid it out and he didn’t hold back. And I’m so damn proud of him for it. We have to have that kind of courage and just tell it like it is.”

Biden made his speech in front of Independence Hall. The building was lit up in red and blue with the silhouette of Naval officers in the background.

“And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution,” Biden said Thursday. “They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”

Biden said he is able to work with “mainstream Republicans” and said “not every Republican” is a MAGA, claiming MAGA “forces” want to take the country backwards.

President Biden’s speech Thursday was harshly criticized by Republicans who said the president “attacked” half the country.

“I thought it was one of the most disgusting speeches an American president has ever given,” DeSantis said in a Fox News interview. “He ran as being a unifier and he’s basically saying to the vast majority of the country who disapproves of him that they’re effectively a threat to the Republic.

For days since his speech, President Biden has attempted to backtrack and clarify. In a tweet Tuesday, Biden said “not every Congressional Republican is a MAGA Republican.”
