TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Governor Ron DeSantis sent out a Tweet condemning President Joe Biden and his administration for terminating Title 42. This rule has been around since March 2020 and has allowed border agents to quickly expel migrants trying to enter the United States.

According to reports, the Biden administration officials are expecting an influx of migrants when Title 42 is officially ended on May 23. Roughly 25,000 migrants are already waiting south of the border in shelters for Title 42 to end.

“Joe Biden’s reckless border policies have allowed more than 2 million foreigners to enter our country illegally via the southern border. Revoking Title 42 authority will supercharge the already skyrocketing flow of illegal aliens, increasing drug, human, and sex trafficking. Biden is failing miserably to faithfully execute the law and is violating his oath of office,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis has taken multiple actions to protect Florida from the negative impacts of the Biden Administration’s relaxed enforcement and has received a lot of support for doing so. One measure was passing S.B. 1808, which will hold private entities accountable for assisting the Biden Administrations with resettling illegal immigrants into Florida.

“The Biden administration has continued to ignore its sworn duty to secure our border, to enforce immigration laws, and to protect Florida from illegal immigration,” said Public Safety Czar Larry Keefe.

“Governor DeSantis’ proposals announced today will help us shut down the human smuggling pipeline to Florida and deter criminals who put unaccompanied children in harm’s way for their own gain. Thank you, Governor DeSantis, for leading this fight.”

Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said, “I am grateful that the Governor has not wavered in his efforts to keep Florida safe and in his support for those men and women on the front lines working hard at it every day, I think it is important that the people of Jacksonville and all across our state understand the concerns we are all facing and how it should matter to everyone.”

“If it is our job in law enforcement to keep our communities safe, that job is challenged when we have work with nothing more than the unknown.”
