JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (FLV) – For the May 16 Duval County election, Democrats hold a several-point lead over Republicans in turnout.

The race features the notable Jacksonville mayoral race between Republican Daniel Davis and Democrat Donna Deegan.

Early voting ended Sunday at 6 p.m.

  • Republicans: 41.47% (52,328)
  • No Party Affiliation: 11.24% (14,182)
  • Other: 1.13% (1,428)

Countywide, as of mid-April, there are nearly 30,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans.

Ballots thus far are 66.34% in-person early voting and 33.63% mail-in voting.

Republicans are traditionally expected to turn out in much larger numbers on election day rather than early and mail-in voting.

According to data compiled by Florida’s Voice, in the 2022 election, Duval Republicans held a lead of around 2.6%, or slightly more than 5,000, in the early and mail-in vote before election day.

Ultimately, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis carried Duval County by more than 11%.

On Sunday, the last day of early voting, both Davis and Deegan went out into the community aiming to turn out more voters.
