TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Rep. Tom Leek, R-Ormond Beach, donated $25,000 to the Republican Party of Florida this week as the party continues to post strong fundraising numbers over its Democratic rivals.

“The Republican Party of Florida continues to make incredible gains in stellar candidate recruitment, impressive voter registration numbers, and vital voter turnout programs, and it is my hope other candidate campaigns and political committees will consider doing the same at this critical time,” Leek said.

The latest donation is one of several other lump sums from state GOP leaders.

“Thank you to Florida House Appropriations Chairman, State Rep. Tom Leek, for his unwavering support of the RPOF and to the people of Florida under his leadership role in helping to craft an open and transparent $117 billion budget, meeting the needs of Floridians and planning for the future of our state,” said Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power.

Most recently, House Speaker Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast, donated $100,000 to the party, as did Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, R-Bartow.

House Speaker-Designate Daniel Perez, R-Miami, had donated $50,000 to the state party as well.

“The 2024 elections will be one of the most consequential in our history and it is critical the Republican Party of Florida has all the necessary resources to elect Republicans at the local, state, and federal levels to keep our state and our nation moving forward,” Renner said last week.

“Thank you to all who work for conservative principles and ideals, so Florida remains the best place to live, work, visit, and raise a family,” he said.

Simpson was the first of the GOP leaders to issue such donations to the Florida GOP, saying in January that it’s critical to give Republicans necessary resources to continue winning.

“Florida is a red state because we have put in the work consistently to ensure conservative leaders who deliver results are supported,” the commissioner said. “With Evan’s leadership, I am confident the RPOF and the hardworking grassroots army will execute the fundamentals necessary to win in November, and I am eager to ensure they have the resources they need.”

As of April 10, Florida Republicans outnumber Democrats by over 890,000 – an advantage they are looking to flex come November against an increasingly hopeful and energized Florida Democratic Party with abortion making the ballot.

Power was quick to highlight how Republicans notably raised $8.1 million in the last quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024, dwarfing Democratic numbers.
