Florida Governor Debate Pushed Back to Late October After Hurricane Ian

FORT PIERCE (FLV) – The gubernatorial debate between Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Democrat U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist was pushed back to Oct. 24, according to the television station conducting the debate.

The debate on WPEC-TV was originally scheduled for Wednesday, which is about two weeks after Hurricane Ian pummeled Southwest Florida.

WPEC-TV’s website said the debate will be presented live at 7 p.m. and held at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce Oct. 24.

Polls Indicate DeSantis Widening Win-Margin Over Crist as Election Day Nears

According to two recent polls, DeSantis is continuing to expand his lead over Crist.

One poll, aggregated by RealClearPolitics gives DeSantis a 7-point lead over the Democrat challenger, 47.8%-41%. The partisan breakdown is 37D-37R-21NPA and the poll was conducted among 500 likely voters from Sep. 15-18.

In the Civiqs poll, DeSantis also holds a 7% lead over Crist: 52%-45%. 

DeSantis Continues to Outpace Crist in Fundraising

According to campaign finance records, DeSantis has raised $2,954,436 more than Crist since Aug. 27 – with a total War Chest (cash on hand) lead of $106,682,493.
