WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., probed IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler on whether or not they were blocked from viewing certain pieces of evidence whilst investigating Hunter Biden for potential tax crimes.

The two IRS whistleblowers reiterated their previous claims that the Department of Justice obstructed their investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs.

During the Wednesday hearing, fresh details emerged regarding the DOJ’s handling of the investigation, pointing to delays and efforts to evade transparency over its findings.

The whistleblowers emphasized that they faced obstacles in performing their duties and may have experienced potential retaliation for seeking the truth.

However, both the Justice Department and the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in Delaware, David Weiss, who led the government’s case, have disputed these allegations.

Luna asked both Shapley and Ziegler whether or not they had been blocked from viewing certain evidence that may have helped in their investigation, to which they responded in the affirmative.

“We’re the ones that are supposed to process the information and provide the relevant information to the prosecutors,” Ziegler said in response to Luna’s question. “It’s not a normal practice to withhold and not tell us what you’re withholding from us.”

In June, Hunter Biden entered into a plea deal concerning federal charges linked to tax crimes and the illegal purchase of a handgun during a period of illicit drug use.

However, the veteran IRS agents-turned whistleblowers believe that President Joe Biden’s son received preferential treatment, as he managed to avoid serving prison time.
