Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Briefs Residents Ahead Of Hurricane Ian: Garbage Pick Up, Damage, Shelters, and More

ORLANDO (FLV) – Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to provide an update on the city’s efforts in preparing for Hurricane Ian. 

Officials are calling for residents to review hurricane plans and take precautions to get homes ready for the storm. Residents are encouraged to remove any yard waste and debris that could clog storm drains.

Garbage Pick Up

Trash collection will be suspended from Wednesday to Friday. Pickup may be rescheduled for Saturday.

Report Damage

Orlando residents can call 407.246.HELP (4357) to report damage, downed trees, traffic light issues and get information.

Parking Garages

Parking fees are being waived starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the following locations:

Orlando Area Evacuations

No Orlando-area evacuations have been issued as of Sept. 27th at 1:30 p.m.

Shelters

Open on Wednesday:

  • Apopka High School – 8 a.m. (pets)
  • Dr. Phillips High School – 12 p.m.
  • Oak Ridge High School – 12 p.m. (pets)
  • Ocoee High School, 12 p.m.
  • Timber Creek High School, 12 p.m. (pets)
