Palm Beach Post Fearmongers for Tyranny in Response to ‘Omicron’ Variant

PALM BEACH (FCV) – Monday, The Palm Beach Post published an alarmist-DeSantis-policy hit-piece to fearmonger for intrusive government policies in response to the new Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Omicron has been observed to be more infectious and likely less fatal.

“As omicron variant marches across America, Florida limits locals’ tools to fight it,” the article is titled.

The “tools” the Post is talking about are local governments’ now-stripped powers to enact public mask mandates, government employee vaccine mandates, and the ability to fine Floridians who break COVID-19 rules.

This year, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) worked to strip most, if not all, government authority in the state and localities from enacting tyrannical health policies like vaccine mandates and mask mandates.

The Post noted that the variant spreads several times more rapidly than the delta variant, but that its “severity” is “still being studied,” prompting conservatives to question why alarmism from liberal media outlets continues.

Former Palm Beach health director Dr. Jean Malecki argued that DeSantis’ administration has “enhance[d] the spread of the virus,” despite recent COVID-19 data showing Florida on the low end of cases per capita.

DeSantis has explicitly stated that no tyrannical health mandates would come from Florida in response to COVID-19.
