TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – According to a financial disclosure form, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ net worth is approximately $1.17 million as of the end of 2022.

As governor, DeSantis’ salary is around $141,000 per year, but he had not yet been a millionaire until arriving at a book publishing agreement with HarperCollins in late 2022.

The publisher, based in New York, paid DeSantis $1.25 million as part of the book deal.

News of the book began to circulate after the governor’s historic reelection victory over Democrat Charlie Crist.

The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival officially launched on Feb. 28.

The book covers key moments in his life, like growing up in a working-class family, playing in the Little League World Series, education at Yale and Harvard, volunteering for the Navy after 9/11, serving in Iraq, his family, and insight into his thinking when grappling with COVID-19 restrictions, Critical Race Theory, ‘woke’ companies, and “legacy media.”

“What Florida has done is establish a blueprint for governance that has produced tangible results while serving as a rebuke to the entrenched elites who have driven our nation into the ground. Florida is proof positive that we, the people are not powerless in the face of these elites,” DeSantis writes.

According to BookScan, in its first week, the new release sold over 94,000 print copies.

His new book outsold former President Barack Obama and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s pre-presidential run sales.

Most of DeSantis’ money, according to the new form, rests in a bank account at over $1 million, the rest in retirement savings.
