TAMPA, Fla. (FLV) – Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., took steps in his bid to secure reelection next year, announcing the formation of his National Finance Committee.

The committee aims to bolster Scott’s campaign efforts and vies to maintain Florida as a Republican stronghold.

The senator’s campaign noted he is determined to fend off Democratic opposition and continue serving in the U.S. Senate.

In a statement, Scott highlighted his position as a top target for national Democrats, anticipating that they will unleash substantial resources to launch “false attacks” against him.

“I’m Chuck Schumer and national Democrats’ top enemy this cycle and you can bet that they are going to spend millions upon millions to air false attacks and lies against me,” Scott said.

Undeterred by the impending storm of attacks, Scott asserted his commitment to countering the onslaught with a robust financial campaign, leveraging grassroots support and fundraising prowess.

“I’ve been traveling the state meeting with Floridians on my 67 Counties Sunshine Tour,” Scott said. “And I’ve been working hard to raise money so we have the resources to counter Democrats’ phony attacks.”

Scott has positioned himself as a vocal opponent of Democratic leaders such as New York Sen. Chuck Schumer.

The committee’s primary objective will be to mobilize resources and funding that will enable Scott to communicate his vision for Florida and defend against negative advertising from his opponents.

Keith Gross, one Republican aiming to unseat Scott in the primary, called the senator “incapable.”

“The senator, who has never faced a serious challenger, won his past elections by a razor-thin margin,” Gross said in a statement. “Meanwhile, GOP Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Ron DeSantis both had significant victories.”
