Florida’s Voice Presents Florida’s Top 5 Fake News Reporters of the Week: Every week, FLV will rank the worst reporters covering Florida politics. Our team, and readers, have noticed a stark uptick of fake news “journalists” that are consistently lying or misleading the public on Florida affairs in politics, ranging from Governor Ron DeSantis to COVID-19. In an effort to promote more journalistic integrity, these individuals will be cited for their attempts to mislead the public.

5. Anna Ostraya (The Oracle)

Ostraya said in an article that Gov. Ron DeSantis’ “Victims of Communism bill is politicizing children” and said that he is creating “his own political agenda in classrooms.”

Communism factually is responsible for tens of millions of deaths in past couple hundred years.

4. The Ledger

The Ledger calls DeSantis “Guv. DePutin” for new legislation that rescinds Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District in Central Florida – “What other freedoms will we give to a governor aching to be the next president … or will it be something else?”

3. Jeffrey Schweers (Orlando Sentinel)

Schweers claims that DeSantis is supposedly “taking credit” for federal stimulus money he’s using for various state programs.

Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ Press Secretary, notes that all tax dollars comes from “we the people.”

2. Jacob Ogles (Florida Politics)

Ogles fails to mention in an article claiming DeSantis has the “second-worst” reputation in LGBTQ issue. The data comes from Signal AI which uses top-level mainstream media coverage to gauge “reputation” – which is largely biased against DeSantis.

1. Lauren Leslie (WINK News)

Lesie claimed that ‘media’ like Florida’s Voice spread ‘misinformation’ that a Naples, Florida church planned to work with Collier Schools to bus kids to a LGBTQ drag show for 12 year-olds. Florida’s Voice gave proof that this was the case and the district said they directed organizers to not use schools as transit points.

Leslie also provided no alternate perspective on the drag show – she merely defended it.
