BEDMINSTER, N.J. (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on President Joe Biden’s energy and environmental policies.

Trump claimed that Biden’s policies are forcing Americans into expensive electric cars, despite thousands of EVs piling up unsold on car lots.

He further argued that the president’s policies are causing car prices to skyrocket and will ultimately lead to the destruction of American auto production.

The former president contended that the average cost of a new car is now over $50,000, which he called “absolutely outrageous” and unprecedented.

“These extreme left wing policies are a disaster for families and consumers, and are one of the main reasons the average cost of a new car is now over $50,000,” Trump said in the Agenda47 video. “There’s never been such a price.”

He criticized Biden’s subsidies for electric cars, saying that the taxpayer-funded incentives disproportionately benefit wealthy individuals, while ordinary Americans cannot afford or do not want to use EVs.

“These exorbitant prices are despite the fact that Biden is spending billions and billions of taxpayer dollars subsidizing electric cars for rich people, while normal Americans can’t afford to use one nor do they even want to,” Trump said. “Biden is killing American consumers.”

Moreover, Trump accused Biden of a direct attack on American manufacturing, specifically targeting pickup trucks, SUVs and other automobiles.

He cited the doubling of Corporate Average Fuel Economy, or CAFE, standards, which he claimed would cost automakers billions and result in the loss of U.S. auto manufacturing jobs.

“Biden doubled CAFE standards a move that is projected to cost automakers $200 billion,” Trump said. “By one estimate, Biden’s electric vehicle mandate will slaughter 117,000 US auto manufacturing jobs with workers in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio among the hardest hit.”

Biden’s policies have been touted as efforts to combat climate change and transition towards clean energy, which proponents argue will create new job opportunities in the renewable energy sector while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Addressing the United Auto Workers directly, Trump urged them to endorse him, highlighting his past efforts in fighting for auto workers during his tenure as president.

“I hope United Auto Workers is listening to this because I think you better endorse Trump because I’m going to grow your business and they are destroying your business,” he said. “They are absolutely destroying your business.”

“How people can vote for you, just because it’s an automatic democrat vote. Look how they’ve decimated the car industry over the years.”

He also boasted about canceling the Trans-Pacific Partnership, ending the North American Free Trade Agreement, and renegotiating the Korea trade deal, to protect American jobs and the auto industry.

“I fought for auto workers like never before, canceling TPP, which was a disaster, ending the NAFTA nightmare. The NAFTA trade deal was the worst deal ever negotiated on trade,” Trump said. “And renegotiating Obama’s horrendous Korea trade deal. Made it a great deal from a horrible deal.”
